In the midst of the US-China trade crossfire, Huawei has officially launched its own operating system HarmonyOS, and subsequently introduced the world to its very own smart television, Honor Vision. Unlike previous devices that ran on Android technology, Honor Vision marks the very beginning of Huawei’s venture into utilizing HarmonyOS for the expansion of its own home-grown products.

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd has found itself in hot water after The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) accused the South Korean electronics conglomerate of misleading their customer base into believing that their phones are water-resistant, a move that has now escalated into a full blown lawsuit brought on by the Australian consumer watchdog.

ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today that the MTN (Metro Transport Network) standards proposed by ZTE and China Mobile have been approved in the fourth plenary session of the ITU-T (International Telecommunications Union-Telecommunication Standardization Sector) Study Group 15 in Geneva, Switzerland.

 According to new a research report from the IoT analyst firm Berg Insight, the installed base of smart electricity meters in the Asian markets China, India, Japan and South Korea will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 7.9 percent from 613.4 million in 2018 to reach 965.9 million in 2024. Over the next six years, smart meter penetration among electricity customers in the region is projected to increase from around 67 percent in 2018 to 94 percent by the end of 2024. At this pace, Berg Insight anticipates the markets will surpass 1 billion installed smart electricity meters and reach a penetration close to 100 percent in 2025.
